Team Events Finished | WC2018 Update

It has been an amazing few days since the opening ceremony of the 2018 World Rope Skipping Championships.

Watching Team Australia march out onto the floor was such a proud moment for all the parents and supporters in the audience.

China put on an incredible show for the crowd, filled with flying cheerleaders, adorably talented 6-year-old skippers and even a group of 60-year-old women performing a synchronised “square dancing” routine with rubber balls.

Some of the fastest skippers in the world also took part in a speed-off for the dazzled crowd. At one point it was incredible to watch five speed skippers go through their paces in a long rope.

All the Northbridge competitors - Team Sapphire, Cobalt and Teal - did us proud.
Among their results were:
- Sapphire achieving 4th in Double Dutch Pair.
- Cobalt achieving 5th in 4x30 Seconds Speed with a score of 370!
- Teal achieving 6th in Double Dutch Single.

It was also great to see Aussies on the winning podium, including Cleveland Air Magic's (CAM) Australia 1 winning 1st overall, as well as Australia 62 from Bayside, Australia 3 and 32 from CAM and a few individuals earning medals for different events.

The heat continues to be pretty crushing, which has made rehearsals - and sightseeing - challenging at times. But Shanghai is a vibrant, fascinating city.

Everyone has loved the chance to watch some of the best skippers in the world perform and make new friends behind the scenes.

We’re looking forward to the last few days of competition.
